Petrol Prices Set To Hike Again

if you though they are reasonably high, Petrol prices are set to get another hike ‘soon’. According to The Hindu, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry is considering another rise in petrol prices. Though, the increase might not be significantly high but anything in the quantum of Rs 1-2 is being considered. The ministry would decide upon the same after the monsoon session of Parliament in the first week of September.
The average crude oil prices are around 81$ per barrel and if they do not soften in due coarse of time, the quantum of increase might increase to a bigger number. This further creates a big concern to the middle class and an uproar is expected in the Parliament in case this decision is announced.

Well certainly that is no feast for the bike to cover 1610 kms in a day, after all its a Yamaha but it truly is a feast for Mr. Melroy Alphonso who undertook this tedious journey and came out on top. He came across the Iron Butt Association of USA which has certification for long distance rides called the saddlesore1000. In this ride you have to complete 1,610kms (1000 miles) in a period of 24 hours. He had to locate a suitable route where the roads were good and traffic was light. For proof the ride has to have petrol receipts, logs, witness forms for verification process. He choose the route of Mumbai to Eklinji and back to Mumbai covering a distance of 1650kms. Eklingji is located in Rajasthan which is at a distance of 15kms north from Udiapur. So the route was Mumbai (Maharashtra), Surat (Gujarat), Udaipur-Eklingji (Rajashtan) and turn back and come back to Mumbai thus completing the required 1,610 kms.

Yamaha India discontinues 3 models

Yes, the Alba, G5 and the Gladiator has been officially discontinued. According to the news published on Hindu Businessline, the production of these 3 models has been discontinued since April 2010..!!
Low demand for these models seem to be the reason for the discontinuation for these models. But according to me it is just a rejig and repositioning of the product portfolio of Yamaha India (as the Alba and Gladiator is still present in the form of the YBR 110 and the SS125 and YBR 125).

This bike looks very much like its former models. However, a few changes have been made in the looks department. The tail lamp is now considerably better looking than it was before, although the lamp itself isn’t fitted properly. From the side it’s a great looking bike and the body appearance is rather heavy.

 The bike is available in 6 different colours and all in all it all adds up to a pretty cool and sporty looking motorbike. The Passion Pro has a 100cc 4 stroke, single cylinder engine. It has 4 gears that can take you all the way up to 100 km/hr. However, at the higher speeds it can be a quite bumpy and uncontrollable ride. Everything is smooth and comfortable up to about 75 km/hr which is fine considering that this bike was never created with the intention to be a bike that you could use for escaping the police.

Kawasaki W800 Bonneville-rival is real (NOT in India)

Kawasaki is about to reveal a bigger replacement for the defunct W650 Triumph Bonneville replica, confirming internet speculation.
The bike will be called the W800 and feature a largely similar chassis, but feature a disc brake at the rear and power hiked to match Triumph’s own modern-day Bonneville, at around 60bhp.
Kawasaki’s original W650 was popular with customisers, especially in Japan, but it was always hampered by its authentically flat 49bhp parallel twin motor.
If Kawasaki keeps a lid on the price, the W800 should give the reborn Bonneville serious competition – the W650 was widely praised for out-retroing the Hinckley bike until it was discontinued in 2006.
